The name of this series was chosen because in reality everything is not as it seems at first glance.
Since lately I have been studying manual control in my works, in this experiment I tried to depict the control over space and time.
In fact, there is no accordion, slate or blinds, no metal elements (I see metal in stripes), there is one object with an uniform texture on another object with an uniform texture too (these are vases that stand on glass) – this is a manipulation of light that created the effect of waves and a single plane. This is control over space.
The stripes (or waves) themselves are the light that was fixed in a certain way during the shooting. That is, the control and distortion of time, since these flashes of light cannot be seen at once, because each of them exists in its own time (otherwise there would be no dark streaks), but we see them all together, as if time was compressed like an accordion.
“It was – it is – it will be” in one moment, in one shoot.
So what we see exists, and it does not exist.
